But it is a great tragedy for Iran.
One of the most beautiful films of the year. It's a simple thing for Europeans. It's a common misunderstanding. But it is a great tragedy for Iran. Because a foreign man saw a woman naked. They are even embarrassed to tell the police.
dumb and puritanical
Film is stupid, annoying:
The movie is so anti-sex that the characters kept accusing a prior neighbor of promiscuity, to blame her and explain the ensuing evil (the rape, primarily).
The supposedly intelligent husband stupidly assumes, without talking to her about it, that his wife is ready to jump right back on stage after being violently raped and hospitalized.

An emotional, nerve racking and thought provoking film.
This is a cinematic masterwork by the same director who brought us A Separation (2011) Asghar Farhadi. With this film Asghar Farhadi has won my respect and now I can't wait for his next project. What I like the most in Farhadis films is the realistic tone he gives to the film. It makes you believe what you see and it makes you care for the characters.
But this film wouldn't be this good if it wasn't for the main lead actor and by all the cast in general. This film has an extraordinary acting especially by the main lead actor which plays Emad, he is terrific in this film giving us an Oscar worthy performance. Now this film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film but I'm so indignated that they didn't nominated the main lead actor.
This film may give you the impression that its a bit to long but it isn't, it gives that impression because the director it's taking his time to build tension and suspense. And it does give that I was hooked in the third act, I was thrilled. Like Sicario (2015) this film takes its time to build up and deliver tension and when it does deliver its boom, breathtaking, astonishing.
This film its, like A Separation a great family drama film with a suspenseful tone that I consider a masterclass, and I definitely recommend it to everyone. Don't miss this.
